Online application process

• Go to the Madras University website. The link is given here: 
• Look for the “Apply” option and tap on it. 
• Fill in all the details carefully, as no modifications can be made after submitting the form.
• Candidates must have a valid phone number and email ID for registration. 
• Unreserved candidates will have to pay the application form fee. 
• Now, the completely filled-out form must be sent to the college principal, along with all the required self-attested documents. 

Offline application process

• Interested candidates must visit the university campus first. 
• Get the application form and fill in all the correct details. 
• Take all the necessary documents with you and attach them to the application form. 
• At last, submit the application form to the campus office.

Entrance Exam

• Madras University shortlists candidates for admission based on merit, entrance exam, and interview. For courses like MBA, MCA, and M.Tech, TANCET scores are accepted.
• Candidates must qualify for the entrance exam and get a valid score to be admitted into their desired programme. 

Qualification 

• Candidates applying for UG courses must have completed 12th grade; candidates applying for PG courses must hold a graduation degree in the relevant field; and for PhD candidates, the minimum qualification requirement is a postgraduate degree in the relevant field.
• All interested candidates must fill out the eligibility criteria to apply for the courses. 

Admit card 

• Candidates can download the admit card from Madras University for entrance exams conducted by the university and from its official website for the TANCET exam.
• Carry the admit card to the examination hall; otherwise, entry will be denied. Read the instructions given on the admit card carefully. 

Fee Submission

• The fee submission process starts after the seats are allocated to the shortlisted candidates. To confirm admission, a certain amount must be submitted as an admission fee.

Madras University UG Admission 2026

Madras University UG admission 2026 last date to submit the filled registration form is 30 June 2026 for the BSc Blended Science course.

Madras University offers Bachelor of Science and other blended science programmes for all aspiring candidates wanting to pursue an undergraduate programme in the science stream.

Candidates for the UG programme are offered admissions on the basis of minimum qualifying marks acquired at higher secondary levels of education. 

In 2025, the placement cell helped 468 students from the undergraduate batch get placements with a median salary package of Rs 3.73 LPA. Some of the top recruiters participating in the recruitment drives are Audi, Axis Bank, TCS, Cognizant, Naukri, HDFC, etc. 

Students can also apply for undergraduate courses through distance education programs. The Institute of Distance Education offers 16 undergraduate programs. Admissions are open throughout the year for distance education applicants. 

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)

Madras University encourages a Bachelor of Science programme for all interested students wanting to pursue the course. The university also offers blended science programs. B.Sc. is one of the most famous programmes in the field of science after Tech.

Depending on the specialisation chosen by the candidates, theoretical knowledge and practical skills are taught to students under the 3-year undergraduate program.

Madras University PG Admission 2026

Madras University promotes master’s programmes like MBA, MCA, M.Sc., etc., in different fields like management, arts, science, economics, physical education, and many more.

Admissions are offered through an entrance exam and a TANCET score for courses like MBA, M.Tech, and MCA. Candidates must get valid marks to qualify for the entrance exam.

In 2025, 21 students from the PG programme were placed with an average salary package of Rs 3.89 LPA. Compared to the previous year, placement packages improved in 2025. The Institute of Distance Education also offers 22 postgraduate programmes. Along with UG and PG programmes, the institute promotes 16 certificate courses and 19 diploma courses, for which admissions are open throughout the year.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria 

• Candidates must have finished their master’s degree with 60% minimum aggregate marks in the relevant subjects from a university recognised by the government. 

Selection criteria 

• An entrance exam is conducted along with a personal interview by the university to shortlist candidates for the programme. 
• Candidates who have qualified for exams like the UGC NET, CSIR NET, or TANCET will not have to appear for the entrance exam. They can directly sit down for a personal interview.
