What is the BHU Admission Process 2026?

Online Application Process

Every year, admissions at Banaras Hindu University start in the month of May or June. Interested candidates can visit the university website and fill out application forms online. Here are all the required steps to follow:

• Go to the Banaras Hindu University official website. The link is here @https://www.bhu.ac.in.
• Candidates must register themselves after the declaration of their CUET results on the BHU admission portal for counselling and submit their scorecards. 
• Provide the CUET account number and other important details to confirm registration. 
• Once you are registered, log in with the help of your login details, upload all the important documents, and apply for the preferred programme. 
• Lastly, pay the counselling fee and wait until the seat allotment takes place. 

Offline Application Process 

• Since admissions are given on the basis of CUET scores and other national-level test scores, 
• Candidates must carry all the important documents along with their CUET scorecard to attach to the main application form. 
• Once the form-filling process is done, pay the fee in the prescribed way and submit the form.

Entrance exam

Banaras Hindu University Admission 2026-27 (Will Start)

Admissions at Banaras Hindu University usually take place between May and June every year. Candidates are recommended to go to the official website and stay updated. All the applications must be completed before the deadline. 

Candidates must sit for the CUET exam or the entrance exam conducted by the university to get admission to BHU. The cut-off for every course is different, so kindly check the cut-off for your desired course on the website.

Counselling sessions will take place after the declaration of the entrance exam results. Once the counselling sessions are done, seats will be allotted to candidates based on their preferences. 

For the PhD programme, the university conducts a BHU RET exam along with an interview to shortlist candidates.

BHU UG Admissions 2026

Banaras Hindu University offers several bachelor’s programmes, such as BA, B.Sc., B.com., etc., in diverse specializations. Admissions to these courses are given based on the UET or CUET UG exam scores. 

Talking about the placements at BHU, the university has recorded some of the best packages over the years. In 2023, Banaras Hindu University recorded the highest package of INR 1.2 CPA and the average package of INR 23.13 LPA.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)

Banaras Hindu University offers a B.Tech. programme in the specialisation of food technology under the Department of Dairy Science and Food Technology. It deals with food processing and preservation techniques.

Everything related to food, nutrition, packaging, manufacturing, etc. is taught in this course. Some of the career options in the field of food technology are food safety officer, food technologist, packaging technologist, and many more.

Bachelors of Arts (BA)

Banaras Hindu University offers BA and BA (Hons.) programmes in different fields. There are several specialisations available under the three-year UG programme, including economics, English, history, political science, Bengali, psychology, and many more.

BHU PG Admissions 2026-27

Banaras Hindu University encourages many postgraduate programmes, including M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc., MA, etc.

Selection for these programmes is made on the basis of performance in CUET, PG, or PET exams. It also accepts scores from the national-level exam lines NATA, NEET, and CAT for courses like B.Arch, MBBS, and MBA.

Candidates will either have to score good marks in national-level exams or appear for the entrance exam conducted by the university.

BHU Phd Admissions 2026-27

Banaras Hindu University offers PhD programmes in different fields and across multiple specialisations, including biochemistry, history, Arabic, English, food technology, and many more.

Minimum eligibility criteria 

• Candidates must have completed their graduation degree in their respective field with 50% minimum marks acquired. 
• Candidates must have completed their post-graduation degree in their respective field with 55% minimum marks acquired. 

Selection criteria 

• For the PhD programme, the candidates will be selected based on NTA RET or BHU RET and a personal interview conducted by the university. 
• All the candidates who have qualified for exams like NET/UGC-JRF/CSIR-NET/JRF/ICMR/ICAR/DBT will not have to appear for the written exam. They will be called directly for an interview. 
• The university also gives preference and a weight of 25 marks to previous academic performance. 

BHU Entrance Exam 2026

BHU conducts its entrance test BHU UET to measure the capability and understanding of a student for admission to various undergraduate programs like BA, B.COM, B.Sc, and BA social science.

For the postgraduate program, the exam is BHU PET. The candidates will have to complete their 10+2 from a reputable board with above-average grades and an undergraduate degree from a reputable university.
